Dr. Ananda completed his undergraduate medical training at Madras Medical College, India in 1995. Initially embarking on a career in general surgery, he soon discovered a deep interest in Plastic Surgery. He went on to pursue his Master’s degree in Plastic Surgery at Universiti Sains Malaysia, graduating in 2005. Dr. Ananda provided his services at the university hospital (USM), where he treated a wide variety of plastic and reconstructive surgery cases. His growing passion for burns and tissue engineering led him to conduct numerous research projects aimed at advancing treatments for burn injuries. Dr. Ananda played a key role in establishing the cultured epidermal autograft to help treat major burn injury victims, and has presented his groundbreaking research at several international conferences. His contributions to burn research and tissue engineering have earned him multiple awards and widespread recognition.
Dr. Ananda developed a particular interest in laser treatments for cosmetic issues, especially in facial resurfacing for acne scars. In 2009, he completed a prestigious one-year fellowship in Burns, Laser, and Aesthetic Surgery at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (Taiwan). He is one of the few plastic surgeons in Malaysia to have completed such a specialized program.
With a wealth of experience from his time at the university hospital, Dr. Ananda has treated numerous cleft lip and palate patients, always striving to bring smiles to their faces. He has also successfully managed several major burn injuries and built strong interdisciplinary relationships with his colleagues. Dr. Ananda is committed to breast reconstruction for patients undergoing mastectomy, firmly believing it should be a priority in the healing process. Trained in reconstructive microsurgery, he has performed complex surgeries for traumatic and oncological defects, often working for long hours in delicate microsurgical procedures.
Dr. Ananda is passionate about chronic wound care, successfully treating long-standing leg ulcers with modern wound dressings and advanced wound care technologies. His interests also extend to hair transplantation, where he is proficient in performing FUT and FUE techniques. Additionally, Dr. Ananda’s expertise includes liposuction, fat transfer, body contouring (such as abdominoplasty, arm lift, and thigh lift), facial cosmetic surgery (including facelift, blepharoplasty, and rhinoplasty), and breast augmentation and reduction. With a diverse range of skills, Dr. Ananda remains at the forefront of aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.
