Dr. Umut Zereyak completed his primary and high school education in Adana, his hometown. He embarked on his medical education and professional journey at Trakya University Faculty of Medicine. In 2007, he gained valuable experience during a 1-month general surgery internship at Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary.
Following graduation, he briefly served as an emergency room physician in Aksaray and worked as a research assistant doctor at Adana Numune Hospital. Soon after, he commenced his specialty training at Cumhuriyet University, specializing in Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery.
In 2016, he spent 4 months at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic of St George's Hospital in London, England, with the Erasmus Academic Plus program scholarship. That same year, he furthered his expertise with a 1-month stint at the Head & Neck and Hand Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery Clinic in Bremen-Mitte, Bremen, Germany.
In 2017, with the Erasmus Academic Plus program scholarship, he worked at the Head & Neck and Hand Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery clinic in Bremen at Clinicum Bremen-Mitte for 15 days. Dr. Zereyak internalized the principle of "start like a Turk, continue like a German, finish like an Englishman" through his experiences in these institutions.
In 2018, he volunteered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, representing Cumhuriyet University, and provided training at Addis Ababa University Hospital, Timur Anbessa (Black Lion) Hospital, Head and Neck-Reconstructive, and Plastic Surgery Clinic.
In 2019, he transitioned from his role at Sivas Numune Hospital to begin working at Istanbul Çamlıca Medicana Hospital. During the same year, he achieved success in the European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Part 1 (MCQ) Examination in Brussels, Belgium.
Dr. Zereyak's dedication to his field culminated in his success in the Brussels, Belgium - Antalya European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery exam in 2019, earning him the title of Fellow of European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (FEBOPRAS).
He displayed a particular interest in facial aesthetics, full-body plastic surgeries, and the reconstructive (repair surgery) aspects of plastic surgery, including burn, trauma injury, and tumor surgery. Dr. Zereyak has placed significant emphasis on scientific publications throughout his career, spanning both experimental and clinical areas. For him, the pursuit of scientific knowledge is a fundamental principle, believing that a physician should always stay abreast of the latest developments in the field, regardless of their academic position.
