About Us
Prof. Dr. Aydan Biri is a dedicated gynecologist and obstetrician with a deep commitment to the well-being of women and their babies. Her journey into medicine began with a desire to become an academician and psychiatrist, but it was her experiences in Hakkari Yüksekova during compulsory service that shaped her career path towards gynecology and obstetrics. Witnessing the challenges faced by women in the region, including ignorance about reproductive health and the impact of cultural practices, she decided to specialize in gynecology and obstetrics.
After completing her specialization in 1992, Prof. Dr. Biri worked in Niğde, where she encountered similar issues faced by women in Anatolia. These experiences further motivated her to pursue academic excellence and she eventually joined Gazi University Faculty of Medicine as an assistant professor in 2001, later becoming an Associate Professor in 2006 and a Professor in 2011.
Throughout her career, Prof. Dr. Biri has focused on high-risk pregnancies, emphasizing the importance of genetic diseases and diagnostic methods. She completed a doctorate in medical biology and genetics in 2011 and obtained a specialty in maternal fetal medicine (perinatology), a field that remains under-recognized in Turkey but is crucial for managing risky pregnancies.
Prof. Dr. Biri's professional journey has been supported by her family, including her husband Hasan Biri and their two sons, Yaşar Eren and Ertuğrul Hakan. Her family's support has been a source of strength, enabling her to navigate the challenges of her career while balancing her roles as a mother and a physician.
Today, Prof. Dr. Biri continues to practice with a sense of responsibility, drawing on her extensive knowledge and experience to provide the best possible care to her patients.
