About Us

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Yerdel is a highly experienced laparoscopic surgeon with nearly 30 years in the field and 18 years of dedicated work in Istanbul. He specializes in laparoscopic surgery, endoscopy, reflux and achalasia treatment, stomach diseases, and obesity surgery. He received his initial training in Japan in the early 1990s and gained hands-on experience in thousands of laparoscopic procedures during his academic tenure at Ankara University. In 1998, he completed the “Advanced Laparoscopic Skill Acquisition Program” at Yale University, USA.

He later received intensive training in bariatric surgery at multiple centers in New York, with a special mentorship under Prof. Mark Bessler at Columbia University. Prof. Yerdel is the founder of Istanbul Bariatrics, where he and his expert team provide lifelong care and support for patients undergoing gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, duodenal switch, and revisional bariatric surgery, aligning their practice with global medical standards.
