Prof.Dr. Gökhan Yağcı

Prof. Dr. Gökhan Yağcı, a distinguished figure in the realm of General Surgery and Surgical Oncology, has left an indelible mark on the medical field through his extensive expertise and unwavering dedication to patient care. With a career spanning over two decades, Dr. Yağcı's journey began in his birthplace, Siirt, in 1965. His formative years of education took place in Ergani, Erzurum, and later at the esteemed Kuleli Military High School.

Upon entering Gülhane Military Medical Faculty in 1983, Dr. Yağcı embarked on a journey that would see him become a beacon of excellence in his field. Graduating as a Medical Lieutenant in 1989, he proceeded to complete his Intern Medical Training at Gülhane Military Medical Academy, followed by a period of military service at the Infantry Regiment Command in Seymen-İzmit.

Dr. Yağcı's passion for surgery and oncology became evident as he delved into his role as a General Surgery Assistant in 1992, eventually attaining the title of General Surgery Specialist in 1996. His commitment to advancing medical knowledge led him to explore the intricacies of liver tumors, culminating in a specialized thesis on treatment options for primary and metastatic liver tumors.

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Yağcı's expertise extended beyond the confines of traditional surgery, encompassing laparoscopic procedures, anorectal region surgery, and gastroenterology surgery. However, it was in the realm of Obesity and Metabolic Surgery where his impact truly resonated. With thousands of successful cases under his belt, Dr. Yağcı pioneered innovative treatment methods that offered patients a new lease on life.

His pursuit of excellence took him across the globe, from the University of Wisconsin, USA, to the ASAN Medical Center in Seoul, South Korea, where he honed his skills in transplantation and robotic surgery. Dr. Yağcı's dedication to education and training was unwavering, evidenced by his role in establishing the Gülhane Military Medical Academy Liver Transplant Committee and his active participation in numerous surgical procedures.

In 2015, Dr. Yağcı made the decision to retire from Gülhane Military Medical Academy, leaving behind a legacy of unparalleled expertise and compassionate patient care.
