Our Surgeon Dr. Mehmet Yalım Uçtum
He is Surgeon Dr. Mehmet Yalım Uçtum, born in 1980 in the district of Antakya, Hatay. His educational journey began in Iskenderun, where he completed his primary and secondary schooling. In 1998, he embarked on his medical studies at Ege University Faculty of Medicine. Graduating in 2004 with the title of Medical Doctor, he fervently pursued his dream of becoming a Surgeon Doctor. He successfully passed the TUS (The Central Examination for field of Specialization in Medicine in Turkey) and earned the privilege to undergo specialized training.
In 2005, he commenced his specialized training in General Surgery at Istanbul Vakıf Gureba Training and Research Hospital. Following five years of dedicated study, he completed his thesis on "Causes, Treatments and Interventions in Incisional Hernias," published his inaugural medical article, and attained the esteemed title of General Surgery Specialist in 2010. Immediately after, he fulfilled his mandatory service between 2011 and 2012 in the district of Kızıltepe, Mardin, where he initially served.
Post his obligatory tenure, he assumed the roles of General Surgery Specialist and chief physician between 2012 and 2013 at Manisa Soma Private Vefa Hospital. From 2013 to 2016, he immersed himself in advanced laparoscopic surgery, bariatric surgery, and oncological surgery at Eskişehir Acıbadem Hospital, dedicating himself to enhancing his professional acumen and expanding his expertise across various domains. This endeavor marked a significant stride towards establishing Dr. Mehmet Yalım Uçtum as a distinguished name in his field. Simultaneously, he garnered extensive experience from countless surgical procedures and case studies, ultimately becoming the head of the obesity unit at İzmir Private Karataş Hospital in 2016. In 2019, he inaugurated his own private clinic, İzmir Bariatrics, with the aim of providing patients with even more specialized and thorough care, further bolstering Izmir's battle against obesity.
